HOPE Public Interest Opportunities

HOPE is a dynamic center, defined by the dedication and thoughtfulness of its volunteers, project leaders and Fellows. We offer:

  • The Miami Scholars Program - A scholarship for entering students with an exceptional academic record and a demonstrated commitment to public service.
  • The HOPE Fellows Program - Fellows have the opportunity to create summer "dream jobs" in the public interest arena and serve as an integral part of our campus culture. Fellows return with lessons of their experiences and create advocacy projects for their peers.
  • The Public Interest Leadership Board (PILB) - This provides an opportunity for outstanding students to play a key role in fostering the public interest mission at the School of Law.
  • The Public Interest Lecture Series (PILS) – These lectures connect students with outstanding alumni and faculty who are actively engaged in public interest and pro bono advocacy.
  • Pro Bono Legal Research Project – In this project students are teamed up with leading public and private sector attorneys to work on pro bono and public interest cases. This is just one example of the many public interest projects in which students can participate (see more at right).
  • Summer Public Interest Fellowship Program - This includes a nine week, full-time internship at a public interest organization, a public Interest law seminar, and a legal research and writing project. Students receive a stipend and academic credit.
