The Miami Scholars Program targets candidates from across the United States who, in addition to excellent academic achievement and strong scores on the LSAT, have demonstrated interest in public service. The Program offers its students exclusive opportunities for legal advocacy training and mentoring from the HOPE Public Interest Resource Center team of attorneys, including individualized curriculum advising and career planning assistance. Miami Scholars also receive mentoring by upper-class Scholars and public interest and pro bono attorneys. Specifics:

  • Miami Scholars are awarded a yearly tuition scholarship in the amount of $26,000
  • Miami Scholar awards are available for full-time students only; if a Scholar is given permission to enroll less than full-time, the award will be prorated accordingly.
  • A stipend is provided for public interest work that is performed during their first or second year summer
  • Scholars may also choose tuition reduction for summer studies through a University of Miami School of Law summer program.
  • Tuition awards are automatically renewed if a grade point average of 3.0 or better is maintained.
  • This scholarship may include a maximum of six non-law course credits, taken within the University, that have been pre-approved by the Dean of Students Office to apply towards the J.D. degree.

Additionally, Miami Scholars who maintain a 3.00 GPA or better also receive a half-tuition scholarship if they are admitted to and enroll in one of our LL.M. programs upon graduation (or, in the case of the School's joint LL.M. degree offerings, before graduation).
