Grace Leef and her husband, Eric came to Miami from New York. Eric was a prominent attorney in Miami for many years and together they enjoyed the pleasures that the Miami Beach lifestyle has to offer.  While Grace and Eric never had children of their own, they adopted the Miami community and established a trust to benefit future generations. Predeceased by Eric, Grace passed away in 2006.  She gave the majority of her estate to charitable causes.  The I. Eric and Grace Leef Endowed Scholarship was established at the School of Law to memorialize the name of  I. Eric and Grace Leef.

The Leef scholarship is awarded every third year to a worthy entering student at the Dean's discretion and will be awarded again for fall 2010.  The Leef Scholarship is available for a full-time student only.  The Leef Scholar receives a full tuition award and a yearly stipend of $1,000 which are renewable each year.  The award is for the fall and spring semester Law School tuition only, except that it provides a full scholarship for one summer of enrollment in either one of our summer abroad programs or on-campus summer session following the first or second year of law school.

No separate application is required for the Leef Scholarship. This award is granted on the basis of admissions credentials and achievements, without regard to financial need.  Finalists are required to participate in the scholarship interview weekend which is typically held in Miami the last weekend in February.   To ensure the award of the Scholarship, recipients must accept their scholarship award and pay the $300 seat deposit* by the required date.
