M. Read Moore is a partner in the law firm of McDermott Will & Emery LLP and works out of the Firm’s Silicon Valley and Chicago offices. Moore focuses his practice on all aspects of estate planning, estate and trust administration, and tax-exempt charitable organizations. He has had considerable experience in the international aspects of the private client practice, including foreign trusts, planning for foreigners residing in the United States and U.S. citizens residing abroad. 

Moore has done a substantial amount of work for migratory clients and is well acquainted with trust law, community property and tax issues raised by these clients. He has also been involved in sophisticated planning for family businesses, including business succession planning, family business divisions and separations, corporate recapitalizations, intrafamily sales and family partnerships. He is a fellow of The American College of Trust and Estate Counsel and is a member of its International Estate Planning Committee. Moore is also an Academician of the International Academy of Estate and Trust Law. He often speaks and writes on estate planning topics for regional and national audiences.

Moore is a past Editor-in-Chief of the ACTEC Journal and a member of the editorial board of Estate Planning magazine. He was named an Illinois Super Lawyer in the area of estate planning & probate by Law & Politics. He was also named the Best Lawyers 2012 Chicago Trusts and Estates Lawyer of the Year. Moore is an active member of the bars in California, Illinois, Oregon and Washington; and has an extensive practice in all four states. While in law school, he was a member of the editorial board of the Virginia Law Review.
