Betsy L. McCoy is General Counsel and Vice President of The Related Group, one of Florida's largest residential developers and one of the country’s largest real estate conglomerates. As General Counsel, Ms. McCoy oversees all legal issues and provides direct counsel to the company’s Chairman and CEO as well as to its Chief Operating Officer. She is often praised for the creation and implementation of strategies that helped the Company achieve minimal loss during the 2008 real estate market turbulence.

Prior to serving as General Counsel of the Related Group, Ms. McCoy had her own private practice in Tampa, where she served as litigation counsel statewide to financial institutions, real estate developers, and contractors.

Ms. McCoy is a graduate of the prestigious Harvard Negotiation Project, a frequent speaker at national conferences, and holds a Master Advocate Certification by the National Institute of Trial Advocacy.

At Miami Law Ms. McCoy teaches in the Robert Traurig-Greenberg Traurig LL.M. in Real Property Development. She teaches Problem-Solving in Real Property Development—a course that provides students with a hands-on perspective of how to identify, address, and resolve the numerous issues and disputes that may arise in the real estate development process.
