Peter Carfagna is Board Chairman of Magis, LLC, a privately owned investment company, including family ownership of the Lake County Captains, Cleveland Indians Class A Affiliate.

Mr. Carfagna serves as Senior Counsel for Calfee, Halter & Griswold LLP, in Cleveland, one of the preeminent Sports Law firms in the country. He has also served as Chief Legal Officer & General Counsel of International Management Group (IMG) and was Senior Partner at Jones Day LLP.

Mr. Carfagna graduated summa cum laude and Phi Beta Kappa from Harvard College, in 1975, having played Varsity Football 1972-1975. He was a Rhodes Scholar at Oxford, graduating M.A. with Honours in Jurisprudence/Law in 1977.

Mr. Carfagna serves the Harvard Alumni Association as a Member of the Nominating Committee for the Harvard University Board of Overseers. He is a past elected Director of both the HAA Worldwide Executive Board and the National American Association of Rhodes Scholars. Mr. Carfagna also serves on the Board of the Sports Legacy Institute, and he has taught Sports and the Law, Representing the Professional Athlete, and Advanced Contract Drafting at Harvard Law School annually from 1996 to the present.

He is Faculty Advisor to Harvard Law School's Committee on Sports and Entertainment Law and Journal on Sports and Entertainment Law. He is also Faculty Supervisor of Harvard Law School's Sports Law Clinical Program, responsible for 10-12 sports law clinicals each school year with the NFL, MLB, Boston Celtics, Boston Red Sox, Cleveland Browns, Seattle Mariners, Florida Marlins, and IMG.

Mr. Carfagna has served as Distinguished Visiting Practitioner at Case Western Reserve University Law School and Visiting Lecturer at Cleveland State University-Marshall College of Law. In 2009, West published two casebooks by him: Sports and the Law: Examining the Legal Evolution of America's Three "Major Leagues" and Representing the Professional Athlete. He is currently at work on a third, on Advanced Contracting Drafting.

Mr. Carfagna resides with his family in Cleveland. At Miami Law he teaches a course on Representing the Professional Athlete.
