Pablo M. Bentes is a legal officer in the Appellate Body Secretariat of the World Trade Organization (WTO) in Geneva. In this capacity he assists the Appellate Body in conducting the appellate review of decisions rendered under the WTO Dispute Settlement Mechanism on a variety of trade issues including: agricultural and industrial market access, trade remedies, subsidies, services, intellectual property, sanitary and phytosanitary measures, technical barriers, and others.

Prior to his assignment in Geneva, he was responsible for the international trade practice of Machado Meyer Sendacz e Opice Advogados in Sao Paulo, Brazil, and an associate with the international trade practice of Miller & Chevalier, Chartered, in Washington, D.C. and the head of the international trade practice of Machado, Meyer, Sendacz & Opice Advogados in Sao Paulo, Brazil.

He was also an intern with the Legal Affairs Division of the WTO. Mr. Bentes is a law graduate of University of Sao Paulo, where he also obtained an M.B.A. in Finance and Risk Management. He also holds an LL.M. in Comparative Law by the University of Miami. He frequently teaches WTO dispute settlement in official capacity-building activities sponsored by WTO, and is a frequent writer and speaker on international trade issues.
