Tina Portuondo, director of the Heckerling Institute on Estate Planning and the Philip E. Heckerling Graduate Program in Estate Planning, earned a B.A., magna cum laude, from Wheaton College, a J.D., cum laude, from Georgetown University, and an LL.M. in taxation from New York University.

She joined the Law School after practicing in the areas of tax and estate planning in New York and Miami.

In 2012 she became chair of the American Bar Association's Section of Real Property, Trust, and Estate Law. Prior to that she was on the Section's Executive Committee for five years and served as a Section volunteer for more than 15 years.
