Callbacks, Offers, Acceptances and More: (2L, 3L)

Are you curious about what to expect during your callback interview?  Do you know how to accept an offer from a firm?  Join us on Wednesday, September 29 at 12:30 in room 108, when the Career Planning Center will host  a panel of third-year students to talk about their OCI experiences.  You will hear from students who spent this past summer clerking at national firms, the Federal Government, and the public sector.  If you have questions, you will get answers.

Bar Luncheons (2L, 3L)

Job Opportunities Beyond OCI (2L, 3L)

OCI getting you down?  Seems like everyone but you has 600 interviews and 2 dozen call backs?  Well, the truth is that the majority of students do not get their jobs through OCI!  Then how do they get them?  Join us for the workshop on Job Opportunities Beyond OCI on October 7 at 12:30pm, in Rm. 108.  You will learn tips on finding the right job for you.  Where and how to look, and what strategies to use.  Questions?  Call the CPC at 284-2668.

Information for Non-OCI Job Seekers (2L, 3L)

Some suggestions for what you can do to find a summer job.

Read the Daily Business Review and the Florida Bar News (both available in CPC) for updates on the legal profession in Miami. Knowing what's happening in the market will help you be informed for your job search and will allow you to better target your letters and contacts.

1.)  1.)  Check out The Harvard College Guide to Careers in Government and Politics and America's Greatest Places to Work with a Law Degree (both in CPC) for ideas on where to look for jobs this summer. (Even though the focus of those books may be permanent jobs, they will give you ideas for summer employment places).       2.)      Look at  www.PSLawnet.org  for great public interest summer internships.

3.)      Peruse CPC's Resource Room for journals, magazines, books and reference materials that can help give you ideas.

4.)      Remember to see a counselor to assist you in your search.

Hispanic National Bar Association - 2004

Unidos en Nueva York Convention and Job Fair (Everyone)

The Hispanic National Bar Association (HNBA) will be celebrating its Annual Convention, in New York City, at the Marriott Marquis in Times Square, from October 9 through October 12, 2004 The theme for this year's Convention is "Unidos en Nueva York 2004," United in New York.  As part of the Convention, the HNBA will once again host the largest Latino Job Fair in the country, providing law students and, for the first time in the organizations' history, admitted Latino attorneys, a tremendous opportunity to meet, interview and network with private, government and public interest employers from across the country.  Last year's convention held in San Jose, California brought together over 50 employers and 300 law students. We expect an even greater turn out this year.  Please see the attached list of employers who have already registered for this year's Job Fair

The Job Fair will be held on Monday, October 11, 2004 at the Marriott Marquis.  Interviews will be scheduled in 30-minute intervals from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., with a two-hour midday break (lunch is not included for Job Fair-only participants). Job Fair interviewees will have an opportunity to indicate a preference for up to six employers, and will be scheduled for up to twelve interviews (Please note that the actual number of interviews each participant will receive cannot be guaranteed due to a number of  factors.)
