Eleventh
Judicial Circuit Court Intern Program (2L, 3L)
Applications for the spring Eleventh Judicial
Circuit Court Intern Program are available in CPC. The deadline is
Monday, January 24,
2005. Please fill out the application, attach a resume and
writing sample and turn it in to Liz Stack at CPC. The Judicial Intern
Program of the Eleventh Judicial Circuit (Miami,
Fl) places second and third year students in a direct working relationship
with County and Circuit Judges in the Civil, Criminal, Family, Probate,
Juvenile and Domestic Violence Divisions. The schedule by which the law
student will intern will be determined between the student and the judge,
however, a minimum of 5-10 hours per week is required. The program runs
for 9 weeks. All those who fill out an
application are automatically assigned a judge. Clerks are not
permitted to work at any law firm or other legal agency while
participating in this program. Please direct all questions to Liz Stack.
There will be a short orientation on Thursday, January 27, 2005
at 5:30 p.m. in room 209. All those who fill out an application must
attend.
Florida Bar
Fellowship (1L, 2L)
The Florida Bar Legal Services Fellowship Program employs 20 full-time summer
fellows for eleven weeks, to work in public interest law. The purpose is
to involve recipients in the provision of high-quality , significant civil legal
assistance to the poor in the critical areas of need. Factors considered
in selections are experience in working with the low income community, academic
achievement, writing skills and previous contact with and long-term
commitment/interest in public service work. Stipends are $4000 for 1Ls and $5000
for 2Ls.
The Florida Bar fellowship applications are available in the Career Planning
Center and are due to the Florida Bar by January 31, 2005.
US Patent & Trademark
Internship Program (1L. 2L)
The United
States Patent and Trademark Office Board of Appeals and Interferences
Internship/Externship Program for law students is currently seeking applications
for summer internships. The program will generally provide the participant with
the following amazing opportunities:

Work under the supervision of an Administrative
Patent Judge.

Particpate in the evaluation
of ex parte appeals and the drafting of subsequent opinions.

Tour of the USPTO facilities

Visit to the CAFC and Supreme Court, when
possible

Training at the USPTO's
Patent Academy

Observe hearing(s) on patent appeal(s)

Training at the Board, under the guidance of a
Program and Resources Administrator.

Palau Supreme Court
Counsel Positions
(3L, Grad)
The Palau
Supreme Court is seeking applicants for Court Counsel positions. Palau, a
small tropical island nation in Micronesia, is renowned for its unspoiled
natural beauty and unique marine life. Up to three (3) one-year contract
Court Counsel positions are available beginning in the late summer to mid-fall
2005. Interviews will be held in early May 2005 at select locations in the
United States. Interested applicants whose current employment does not end
until 2006 may also apply at this time for positions that will become
available in fall 2006. Deadline for submission of applications is
March 15, 2005.
Court
Counsel receive a salary of $35,000; free housing (furnished); free round-trip
transportation for themselves, spouse and dependent children; free shipment of
household goods and personal effects (max. $2,000 for married couple, $1,200
if single, each way); a $500 health insurance reimbursement; 8 hrs. annual and
4 hrs. sick leave earned each two week pay period; and the opportunity of a
lifetime to have an unforgettable cultural and legal experience.

Arthur C. Helton
Fellowship Program
Application instructions and
eligibility guidelines for the Arthur C. Helton Fellowship Program are now
available on the web site of The American Society of International Law at
www.asil.org. Established in honor of
Arthur C. Helton's remarkable career advocating for refugees and his many
contributions to international law, this one-time program will assist students
and young lawyers in need of modest sums (up to $1000) to pursue their first
opportunities to engage in human rights work and research. The application
deadline is January 31, 2005 and awards will be made by March 1, 2005.
Spring/Summer Judicial Internship (1L, 2L, 3L)
The Honorable Jose E. Martinez is currently
seeking a 2L or 3L
spring
semester intern. The student must be able to work a minimum of 10 hours a week
consistently
for the entire semester. Research,

California Women's Law Center Fellowship (1L, 2L)
The California Women's Law Center is now accepting applications for the 2005
Harry A. Blackmun Memorial Public Interest Grant. The fellows summer work
will include legal research, analysis and writing developing and implementing
advocacy efforts and client interviewing for brief service, counsel and
referral. The grantee will receive a $4,500 stipend. Applications

February 16, 2005.
U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission
2005 Summer Intern
Program
(1Ls)
Interested
in learning about federal securities laws? Don't miss this fantastic
opportunity to work at the SEC. Attorneys at the SEC bring civil enforcement
actions against individuals and companies that break federal securities
laws (i.e. insider trading, accounting fraud). They also work to ensure that
companies' public offerings, proxy contents, tender offers and mergers comply
with SEC rules and policies. As a summer intern, you will work alongside SEC
attorneys and participate in seminars and workshops on various aspects of
securities laws. Intern positions are available in the Washington D.C. office
and regional offices, including the Southeast Regional Office in Miami. 1L
applications for the 2005 Summer Intern Program must be postmarked by March

Curtin, Jr. Justice Fund 2005
Summer Legal Internship Program (1L,
2L)
The Curtin Justice Fund Legal Internship Program is seeking motivated law
student interns to apply for stipends available for the Summer 2005 Program.
The Program will pay $2,500 stipend to students who spend the summer working for
a bar association or legal services program designed to prevent homelessness or
assist homeless or indigent clients or their advocates. Applications are
due by March 25, 2005 and include a cover letter, resume and application form

New Jersey Summer
Public Interest Fellowship (1L, 2L)
Legal Services of New Jersey sponsors a paid intern program each summer for law
students in New Jersey Public Interest legal organizations. The purpose of
this program is to promote awareness of and commitment to careers in public
interest by offering rewarding employment opportunities to law students.
LSNJ will screen the applications to identify those with the greatest potential
an commitment to public interest work. Interns are paid $450 per week for
1Ls and $600 per week for 2Ls. Applications are considered based on when
they are received. Apply early! Decisions are made on a rolling
basis beginning December 15. Applications are available on the
organizations website at www.lsnj.org and in
the Career Planning Center office.
