The CDO offers a wide range of career development services for students including:

Individual Counseling: Advisors are available to meet with students and alumni to review resumes and cover letters, provide mock interviews and talk about career objectives. CDO advisors are former practicing attorneys with a wide range of legal backgrounds. If you don’t have time to meet with an advisor, take advantage of our resume and cover letter drop off program. Leave your resume or cover letter with the CDO and return in 24 hours to pick up the edited version.

Job Postings: The CDO maintains an online searchable database of current legal employment opportunities for students and alumni.  The database is updated on an almost daily basis and is accessible 24 hours a day from any computer.  In addition, hard copies of all job postings are made available to students during office hours.  Additionally, if you are looking for a position in the public sector, please go to our on-line public interest opportunities page to search for post-graduate public interest positions as well as fellowships and public interest internships.

Mentoring and Networking Opportunities:  the CDO hosts several events annually that provide students with opportunities to network with practicing attorneys including the Career Fair, Speed Networking Event and Employer Appreciation Reception.  Often, mentoring relationships are formed through networking meetings.  In addition, there are numerous mentoring opportunities available in the South Florida legal community.  For more information about mentoring programs, please click here.

Programming: CDO advisors conduct workshops throughout the year on résumé writing, job search strategies and other topics. Keep checking the newsletter and calendar for scheduled workshops.

Recruiting: the CDO coordinates on-campus job interviews for current students through its Fall and Spring On Campus Interview Programs.
