The Career Development Office is comprised of eight advisors, all of whom have law degrees and practical experience in different areas of law, and an excellent support staff dedicated to helping each student achieve his or her career goal.

 

Advisors


Marcy Cox – Assistant Dean
Marcy received her J.D. from Boalt Hall School of Law, University of California at Berkeley. She has eight years of litigation practice experience in Los Angeles and Miami, and joined the CDO staff in the summer of 1997.

Diane Quick – Director

Diane graduated from Boston University School of Law in 2001 with a concentration in health law. She has worked at all levels of the government, most recently as an advisor for the United States Department of Labor.

Maggie Austin – Director of Judicial Clerkships

Maggie received her J.D. from Tulane University School of Law.  Upon graduation, Maggie clerked for the Honorable Okla T. Jones in the United States District Court for the Eastern District of Louisiana.  Maggie has worked in law school administration for ten years and comes to the CDO from Florida International University School of Law where she served as the Assistant Dean for Career Planning and Placement.

 

Yazmyne Vasquez Eterovic – Assistant Director, Alumni Advisor and International LL.M. Advisor

Yazmyne obtained her LL.M. in American Law from Wake Forest University School of Law, and received her JD from San Martin de Porres University School of Law in Lima-Peru.  Prior to the CDO, she worked in the attorney recruiting industry. She also has several years of international and immigration law experience.


Tamesha Keel – Assistant Director

Tamesha received her J.D. from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill School of Law.  She was a former Chief Judicial Law Clerk with the United States Immigration Court in Miami and served as a law clerk at the United States District Court, Southern District of Florida. 

 

Sarah Klein – Assistant Director

Sarah received her J.D. and M.B.A. from the University of St. Thomas School of Law and Opus College of Business, and her B.A. from Columbia University.  She worked in equity research at both Alliance Bernstein and Piper Jaffray prior to joining the Career Development Office.


Cristina Ortega – Assistant Director

Cristina received her J.D. from Georgetown University Law Center. Prior to joining the CDO in 2004, she practiced international corporate law at Hughes Hubbard & Reed LLP’s Miami office.  She also worked at The Miami Herald as a features writer/intern.

M. Teresa (Tere) Rodriguez – Assistant Director and Domestic LL.M. Advisor

Tere received her J.D. from St. Thomas University School of Law in Miami, Florida.  She has over fourteen years of litigation experience both in the private and public sector, with a specific emphasis on labor and employment law. Most recently, she was a Senior Trial Attorney for the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission.

Karen Warren – Assistant Director

Karen graduated from Seton Hall University School of Law in Newark, New Jersey. Prior to joining the CDO team in the summer of 2004, she was a litigation associate at McElroy, Deutsch, Mulvaney & Carpenter in Newark.

 


Staff


Davian Terrell Darby – Staff Associate

Terrell graduated from University of Miami in 2004 with a degree in Business Administration and a minor in Music Business.  He assists the office with a number of administrative tasks including reciprocity requests and maintenance of the Career Resource Library. 

Diane Jones – Staff Associate

Diane is usually the first person you see when you visit the CDO. She assists students and graduates in scheduling appointments with counselors, coordinates resume collections, updates our job listing database, checks out the job binders and provides information to all visitors regarding our services.

Nirva Pierre-Louis – Employer Relations Coordinator

Nirva graduated from Florida International University with a degree in Business Administration concentrating in Human Resource Management. Nirva’s core responsibilities are managing the On-Campus Interview (OCI) programs, job fairs and employer resources.
