Miami Law's 2L Noel Pace Promoted to Colonel in the U.S. Army Reserve – President Shalala Honors Pace during Veteran's Day Ceremony
The University of Miami observed Veterans Day by recognizing the men and women on campus, in the community and across our state and nation who served in the U.S. Armed Forces, and share the most special of bonds.
"Today I'm proud to salute these courageous men and women who bring their extraordinary discipline, leadership, skills and insights to our campuses," University of Miami President Donna E. Shalala said, before summoning second-year Miami Law student Noel C. Pace to the stage for the ceremony's highlight – Pace's celebratory promotion to colonel in the U.S. Army Reserve.

Miami Law's Health Rights Clinic Seeks Matching Funds for Challenge Grant
In honor of the men and women who have served in the military, like Noel Pace, we ask for your support. Miami Law's Health Rights Clinic was recently awarded a challenge grant from the Equal Justice Works – AmeriCorps to fund two legal fellows who will provide legal services to veterans.
As a groundbreaking, medical-legal partnership with the University of Miami's Miller School of Medicine, the Health Rights Clinic at Miami Law explores innovative and collaborative ways to educate future lawyers and physicians to deliver quality care to underserved populations. The Health Rights Clinic presently provides legal services on-site to veterans receiving health care at the Miami Veteran Administration Medical Center (VAMC). The services are provided by law students enrolled in the Clinic who are supervised by faculty.
Because of its work on behalf of veterans, the Health Rights Clinic was awarded two Veteran Legal Corps Fellow positions to allow the clinic to expand the capacity and scope of the legal services it currently provides veterans. The grant requires Miami Law to raise matching funds of $57,000 for the two positions for one year and to date nearly $15,000 has been raised. The Fellows will allow the Clinic to function on a full-time weekly basis, throughout the calendar year, as opposed to the one half day per week.
