Miami Law has expanded its international reach to include an exchange agreement with the University of Haifa. This program offers intellectually and culturally exciting opportunities for Miami Students.

 

The one semester exchange opportunity will be available for a maximum of three 2L or 3L students during the spring from February to May. Absolutely no knowledge of Hebrew is required. Course credits earned in Haifa will count toward your UM degree. The English courses offered in the law school this year can be found here.

 

About the University

 

The Law School at University of Haifa is one of the leading law schools in Israel offering a Bachelor in Law (LL.B.) program, a Master in Law (LL.M.) program and a Doctorate in Law (Ph.D.) program.

 

The campus of the University of Haifa spreads along a Carmel Mountain ridge southeast of the city of Haifa and is surrounded by the Carmel National Park. The University offers six Faculties: Humanities, Social Sciences, Sciences and Science Education, Law, Social Welfare and Health Studies, and Education; and five Schools: Business Administration, Social Work, History, Public Health, and Political Sciences. Research is concentrated in centers and institutes on a wide variety of subjects and fields. Among them: study of psychological stress, information processing and decision-making, evolution, the Holocaust; maritime studies, natural and environmental resources, shipping and aviation, the family. The University considers the link between academic excellence and social responsibility as its flagship, and service to the community as one of its important goals. More than 17,000 undergraduate and graduate students attend the university.

 

About Haifa

 

Haifa, Israel’s third largest city, is located on the Mediterranean Sea. Its location makes is a city of spectacular views, particular of Mt. Carmel and the bay. Haifa hosts the world-famous Bahai Gardens. It is a modern, cosmopolitan city, whose 265,000 residents include Jews, Christians, Muslims, Druze and Bahais. The city’s restaurants, museums, cultural performances, natural beaches and the Mt. Carmel National Park make it a delightful place to spend a semester. In addition, because of its small size, trips to tourist sites in Israel, including Tel Aviv, Jerusalem are easily arranged.

 

To Apply

 

There is no application form at this stage. All we need now is:

 

• A short letter (1-2 pages) stating the reasons for your interest;
• A listing of significant international experience (growing up in a foreign country, work in the Peace Corps, the military or business, studying for a semester or more abroad), and/or extensive academic training in international relations, international business area studies, or related fields;
• A copy of your CV (including language competencies); and
• Your law school GPA and grades in relevant courses, or a copy of your law school transcript.

Tuition, Fees, Social Events & Housing

 

Students will pay tuition and other required fees to the University of Miami. Our students pay no tuition or fees to Haifa except for certain social events and discretionary fees such as for the gymnasium. Exchange students who come to Haifa are encouraged to enroll for the services of the university's International School. This allows them to participate in all of the social and cultural activities of the international school (including trips in Israel, parties and more), get the needed help in emergencies and elect courses which are offered by the international school too (in addition to the courses we offer). The international school also assures that they will have a place in the dorms. Details on activities and services offered by the international school can be found here.
