Joanne Harvest Koren, director of the Academic Achievement Program at the University of Miami School of Law, led a session titled “Central Casting: Building a Thriving Academic Support Team” at the 2009 Law School Admission Council (LSAC) Academic Assistance Training Workshop. The event, held at the St. Louis University School of Law in June, brought together faculty and administrators who are dedicated to law school academic assistance programs and who work to ensure the success of students enrolled in LSAC member schools.
Koren created the Academic Achievement Program at the Law School in 1994. Under her direction, the program has gained national attention and grown into a multi-faceted program, with more than 350 law students regularly participating every semester. She is a frequent panelist and presenter at the LSAC Annual Academic Assistance Training Workshops. Additionally, she is a member of the AALS Section on Academic Support and the Executive Committee of the AALS Section on Women in Legal Education. She served two terms as a member of the Florida Bar’s Committee on Legal Education and Admission to the Bar, and served as a presenter at The Legal Writing Institute.
