Homecoming 2010 at Miami Law was anything but business as usual. The annual celebration was dotted with the beginning of new traditions as well as a hats-off to time-tested festivities.

The first ever Dean's Fellow alumni reunion took place at the Robert and Judi Prokop Newman Alumni Center on Nov. 4. The well-attended cocktail reception was organized by Joanne Harvest Koren, director of the Academic Achievement Program, who launched the Dean's Fellow program in 1994 with 12 Fellows. This semester, there are 46 Dean's Fellows at Miami Law.

"It's been very fulfilling to see it grow," said Stephen Robert Kozlowski, JD '96, who was among the founding Fellows. Up until now, Kozlowski hadn't felt compelled to attend any homecoming ceremonies, but this invitation was different. As opposed to other alumni events which focus on giving, this one felt more like coming home. "Most people wait till they're alumni to give back, we were giving back while we were students."

That feeling resonated with other Fellows. "Each Dean's Fellow is connected in some way," said Harout Jack Samra, JD '09. "They were the people who helped you when you were in a really difficult state."
