American Friends Service Committee http://www.afsc.org/miami/ht/d/ContentDetails/i/4723/pid/1273) –     The American Friends Immigrant Services Program (AFIS), based in Miami, has a number of volunteer opportunities available for energetic individuals throughout the southeast who are passionate about immigration and human rights and who are interested either in assisting in the office or in organizing educational events and activities in their communities.  Legal volunteer opportunities involve work on affirmative and defensive asylum applications, N.A.C.A.R.A. Suspension of Deportation cases, battered spouse petitions, legal research and outreach activities in rural Florida.


EarthJustice (www.earthjustice.org) – Non-profit public interest law firm dedicated to protecting wildlife and natural resources. Began in 1971 as the Sierra Club Legal Defense Fund. Based in Oakland CA, it has a legal staff of more than 50 in eight offices around the country. Active and current job board with legal positions and internships.


FloridaProBono.Org (http://www.floridaprobono.org/) Florida Lawyers Serving the Public Good. Provides information about current pro bono opportunities statewide.                

       
Foundation Center(www.foundationcenter.org/pnd) – One of the nation’s leading authorities on philanthropy. Its Job Corner offers current full-time job listings – legal and nonlegal – at US-based foundations and nonprofit organizations.


Idealist (www.idealist.org) – Searches nonprofit and community organization listings to find volunteer opportunities (high level to grass roots), and job and internship listings.


Legal Aid Foundation of Los Angeles (http://www.lafla.org/students.php) – LAFLA provides free legal services to poor and low-income individuals in Los Angeles County. About 2 million individuals are eligible for LAFLA’s services.


National Legal Aid & Defender Association (www.nlada.org/jobs) – The site posts current job listings in civil legal services, defender organizations, pro bono and public interest organizations, public interest law firms and academia.


New York City Bar Public Service Network (http://www.abcny.org/CityBarFund/CityBarPublicServiceNetwork.htm) – The Public Service Network, a program offered through the City Bar Justice Center, fosters public service in the legal community by matching attorneys with legal and non-legal volunteer opportunities in the not-for-profit sector. The Network works with nonprofits to develop potential projects and facilitates the placement of lawyers with opportunities that match their interests and skills.


on Philanthropy (www.onPhilanthropy.com) – Global resource for non-profit and philanthropy professionals. Click on the jobs section (DotOrgJobs) for current positions – many of them senior level – in the US and around the world. Email job alerts available.


OpportunityNOCs (www.opportunitynocs.org) – A national online job site focused exclusively on the nonprofit community. Extensive array of current job listings.


Pro Bono Projects of Memphis Area Legal Services (http://www.malsi.org/volunteer.php) – The Pro Bono Projects of Memphis Area Legal Services consist of a variety of volunteer opportunities for attorneys, paralegals and law students.


ProBono.Net/Bay Area (http://www.probono.net/sf/volunteer/item.) – Provides information about many rewarding volunteer opportunities for attorneys and non-attorneys in the San Francisco Bay Area.


US Department of Justice Executive Office for Immigration Review Pro Bono Program (http://www.usdoj.gov/eoir/probono/volopportun.htm) –  Provide descriptions for programs in need of volunteer (pro bono) attorneys, law students, law graduates and others who wish to give of their time to assist indigent immigrants in removal proceedings.


USAservice (www.usaservice.org) – Mostly for environmental organizations. Next-day, near-term, and continuing opportunities listed. Users can search based on personal interests and/or your zip code.


Volunteer Lawyers for the Arts (www.vlany.org) – VLA advocates on behalf of the arts community in 30 states and the District of Columbia. Unpaid summer associate positions are available to law students from an accredited law school. Attorneys and recent law school graduates interested in volunteering must be admitted for at least 3 years, in good standing, and have malpractice insurance. Click on the site’s “National Directory” for state-by-state opportunities.


Volunteer Lawyers Program of Arizona (http://www.vlparizona.com/LawyerOpportunities.htm) – The VLP offers many opportunities for volunteer lawyers, ranging from direct representation to advice and brief service clinics.  You'll have the chance to help a client from the beginning of her case to the end, to help a group of
clients in a clinic setting, or to meet one-on-one with clients to give each of them the advice they need. 


Volunteer Opportunities in International Pro Bono (http://www.abanet.org/legalservices/probono/international.html) – Find an international pro bono opportunity on the ABA’s Pro Bono and Public Service website.


Volunteer Lawyers Project of the Boston Bar Association (http://www.vlpnet.org/volunteer/) – VLP offers a variety of volunteer opportunities, from case handling to special projects. There are opportunities for attorneys with all levels and types of experience.


VolunteerMatch (www.volunteermatch.org) – Many easy, one-day projects plus continuing gigs and virtual volunteer work. Easy interface with helpful maps and contact information.


1-800-Volunteer (www.1-800-Volunteer.org) – High level-to-grass roots opportunities, many of them in United Way-related projects related to health care, fund-raising, and kid and teen work.
